ABOUT HIYA
The Founder
Founded by Hanane Belfqih, HIYA merges nine
years of professional expertise in the traditional
rug business with the practical insights of an
active yoga practitioner. Developed in Berlin, the
brand was born from the necessity to replace
synthetic, cold mats with a truly grounding and
natural foundation. HIYA rugs are designed to
support the deep relaxation required for
meditative, somatic, and restorative practices.
The Collective
HIYA translates to “She”. Our entire production is
executed by an exclusive collective of 30 female
artisans in Morocco. Operating on a strict direct-
trade model ensures fair, immediate
compensation. This structure sustains the
weavers’ financial independence and protects
their heritage from corporate intermediaries.
The Material & Sourcing
We do not mass-produce. Each yoga rug is a
handwoven tool crafted from 100% pure, undyed
virgin wool. This wool is strictly sourced as a
natural byproduct of routine, necessary sheep
shearing. No animals are exclusively bred or
harmed for our production. The result is a
sustainable, cruelty-free foundation that
provides natural joint cushioning and
uncompromising stability.

Every HIYA rug is a handmade, unique piece. Production is carried out exclusively by our initiative of 30 female artisans in Morocco. Operating without middlemen, this direct trade model sustains the financial independence of the weavers and preserves traditional crafting techniques.
Care Instructions
Routine Care: Wool is naturally dirt-repellent and self-cleaning. Regular shaking and airing out are sufficient for everyday maintenance. Stain Removal: Spot clean immediately with cold water and a mild wool soap. Do not machine wash.
